Why are you by appointment only?
Vintage Chic prides itself in its ability to provide a private and intimate experience and therefore only takes one appointment at a time. No sharing the spotlight in this shop! Absolutely no walk-ins are allowed. If you wish to schedule an appointment in the same day, please text or call 563-581-9945. I will let you know as soon as possible if there are any appointment times available for that day!
How many guests should I bring to my appointment?
Vintage Chic recommends bringing the 2-4 people you are closest with. We can accomodate up to 6, but due to the size of the shop, it's rather a tight squeeze when you bring more than 4 guests. If you'd like to bring more than 4 guests, please contact the shop!
When should I start wedding dress shopping?
We welcome any bride with open arms, no matter how close their wedding date is! We have a wide selection of off the rack dresses for you to choose from if you don't have the time to order! If you wish to purchase an orderable dress, we highly recommend saying yes to the dress at least 8 months prior to your wedding date and here's why. On our side, it take 15-20 weeks for a dress to arrive from our designers. The suggestion of 8 months leaves you time for your dress to come in, for you to pick up your dress, and have an appropriate amount of time to have the dress altered (which you usually start alterations 8-12 weeks prior to your wedding). There is a rush option available when you order your dress, but this is an additional cost. Overall, the ideal amount of time to start shopping is at least 8 months out from your wedding date to insure you don't have to pay any extra costs and to make your dress journey as less stressful as possible!
How far in advance should I make my appointment?
Appointment times fill up quickly! The shop only takes one appointment at a time; therefore, there are a limited amount of appointment times available each day. To ensure you're able to get the appointment date and time you desire, we recommend scheduling your appointment at least 2 weeks prior to the desired date. If you are wanting to schedule your appointment sooner than that, by all means, still fill out an appointment request! We will let you know what time we have available for the date you requested!
What should I bring to my appointment?
Honestly, you don't have to bring a whole lot. Please make sure you wear underwear. That is the one and only thing that is a must have. If you'd like, you can wear a strapless bra, but just make sure whatever bra you wear, it's a non-distracting color. Many brides prefer to go braless when trying on dresses because you get the best idea of what the dress will actually look like on your frame, but we totally understand if you're not comfortable with that. A nude or white bra will do just fine. If you have any specific accessories that you'll be wearing on your wedding day, please bring them with you as well so you can see how they will look with the dresses you try on.
What are ways I can prepare for my bridal appointment?
Firstly, prepare yourself for the idea that you could possibly find your dream dress at your appointment! Trying on dresses is for sure fun, but go into your appointment with at least the idea that you could possibly say yes to the dress because it may happen! Secondly, bring the people with you that you need to have present to have that magical say yes moment. This moment is a celebration and a big life moment, so when you have that magical realization that you've found your dress, you want to make sure you have the necessary people with you to make that moment even more special! And lastly, get ready to have some fun! Wedding dresses are magical! Enjoy trying them on!
How long is a bridal appointment?
Bridal appointments are one hour long.
What is a private label?
Private labels are private designers who aren't majorly advertised. It's a closed, currated collection of exclusive bridal gowns that Vintage Chic gets to choose from! Therefore, our orderable collection has gorgeous gowns that you won't find anywhere else in the area!
What does "off the rack" mean?
Off the rack means that you would buy and take the sample that's in the shop; you'd take the dress in an "as is" state. Therefore, you have to like the color of the dress and it has to be relatively close to your size. This option is great for brides with not enough time to order a wedding dress or for brides who are looking for a great deal as these gowns are discounted from their original selling price!
What is the difference between off the rack and orderable?
What merchandise do you carry?
Vintage Chic carries bridal gowns and bridal accessories! We're the only shop in the tri-state area that focuses exclusively on the bride!
How long does it take for an orderable wedding dress to be ordered?
Orderable dresses take 15-20 weeks to arrive in the shop once they're ordered. We can offer a rush option; however, this is an additional cost. We highly recommend buying your dress at least 8 months out from your wedding to make the process as stress-free as possible and to avoid additional fees. This time frame allows ample time for your dress to be ordered, arrive in the shop, for you to pick the dress up, and have the dress altered (it's recommended to start alterations 8-12 weeks prior to your wedding).
What designers do you carry?
For our orderable bridal gowns, we exclusively carry private labels. Private labels are private designers who aren't majorly advertised. It's a closed, currated collection of exclusive bridal gowns that Vintage Chic gets to choose from! Therefore, our orderable collection has gorgeous gowns that you won't find anywhere else in the area! For our off the rack selection, we carry an array of major designers such as Essense of Australia, Allure, Maggie Sottero, and so many more!
How much do your dresses cost?
All of the dresses in the shop are under $1,500 and most range from $1,100 to $1,500. There are options under $1,000; however, this selection is limited and are mostly off the rack options. The simpiler the dress and the less amount of lace and beading, the less expensive the gown will be. If you ever have a question of how much a specific dress costs, feel free to message us and we can give you that information!
How much do your veils cost?
This depend on the length and detail of the veil. Vintage Chic carries fingertip veils that are off the rack for under $100 but our orderable veils range from $100-$250. The longer the veil, the more expensive it will be. Our floor length and cathedral veils range from $200-$400 depending on the detail on the veil.
What sizes do you carry for wedding dresses?
Vintage Chic wants every bride to be able to find their dream dress at the shop! Therefore, we carry sizes 8-30. If you're below an 8, don't worry! We have extensive training in clipping dresses to give you the best idea of what the dress will look like in your size!
Do you carry plus size?
Absolutely! We have over 30 dresses in a bridal size 20 or higher! We carry bridal sizes 20, 22, 24, 28, and 30! It's important to Vintage Chic that each and every bride has a plentiful amount of dresses to try on! Also, unlike many shops, Vintage Chic does not charge an additional cost when you order in plus size!
What does "bridal size" mean?
Your bridal size will differ from your jeans or normal dress size. In bridal, you're typically 2 sizes high than your jeans or normal dress size. Therefore, if you're a jeans or normal dress size 12, you will most likely be a bridal size 16. Don't worry, girls! At the end of the day, it's just a number and you will look beautiful no matter what size you order!
Do you do alterations?
I do not do alterations. Alterations on a wedding dress is pure magic, so I leave it to the experts! I refer out to Heather at The Threaded Needle. She has her very own studio in her home in Dyersville, IA and she does AMAZING work! Her phone number is 563-543-6930!
When should I start alterations?
We recommend allowing 8-12 weeks for your dress to be altered prior to your wedding. You will go in for roughly 2-3 fittings in that time period to make sure the dress is just the way you want it!
